Behind Starfire

A Guiding Star for Horses

Starfire has been a name so deeply connected to Dana ever since it came to her while writing a antastical story. The Unicorn in this story was called Starfire. A guiidng light yet a bburning flame of courage yet of transformation and renewal. Many years later (Dana is still writing this book!) Daan found her path unfolding where horse becme actually a part of her life, taking in he first rescue horse. She was asked to work with a horse through her work in healing and connection back in 2017. The person she was helping work with was using natural horsemanship but knew it was not the answer, that instead healing was neded and to truly listen to the horses pain. This horse was only 6, a beautiful dappled grey and white and the owner was having trouble lifting his feet. He kicked out. Now she wanted him shod because riding horses hard was well,us her thing. This iindividual said the horse was dangerous, that she could not have him acting out and potentailly hurting anyone Now this beautiful horse was only bought and arrived there two days prior. Two ddays! She needed him shod straight away or ele she was getting ird of him! Two days later, this horse was euthanized, despite being young, in perfect physical health. This beautiful soul was called Tim but Daan knew that he had to be called Starfire, as he ignited a real mission and desire to set up Starfire Horse Rescue and to help not only rescue abused and abandoned horses, but also to help inspire others to connect with horses at a Soul level.

Dana hopes that his abominal end to his life was not in vain, that his story can create change. One of hope for Equines all over.

To offer Starfire Equine Connection and Hrmonized Horsemanship to asist the horse to be confident, and find harmony, even from the depths of despair that many may go through. Starfire Horse Rescue believes in 24 hour grazing with freedom of movement and substanttial forage to encourag natural behaviour as much as possible. The recue centre believes in adequate natural shelter alngside open barns and fields shelters so that the horses always has the choice. The healing work offered, is always at liberty, never is the horse tied up a, encouraigng trust and confidence. We also understand the imortance of horses knowing exactly the best way for them to heal, tapping in to their own endless rescourse and well spring of wisdom, authenticity and healing. We acknowledge that every horse is different, has their own unique journey. Starfire Horse Rescue provides sanctuary, interactions at a deep level with Dana and the opportunity to join the bonded herd. Only once the land dos not suport a larger herd, horses will be rehomed, with great difficulty and sadness, and new forever homes will be screeend accordingly. The rehoming opportuniy will not be available, probbly for quite some time. The welfare of the horses are of most importance, including physically, emotioanlly and psychlogically. Vet care is always present along with holistic approaches. The horse who do find themselves moving in to a state of haromy and accepting the traumas they may have gone through with an open heart, may join in Equine Facilitated Learning sessions, but only if they are ready and choose to do so.

Heart Connections

Dana's background is in holistic animal healing and connecting to aniaml at a soul level. Her path includes the healing of plants, equine facilitated learning and the practice of harmonized liberty horsemanship. Her rather extreme sensitive nature often challenges her but also aids in the deeper connection with horses nad touching them at a soul level for healing of past traumas. She likes to teach others how to tap in to their own sensitit while also learning to balance them with the aid of Starfre Equine Connection, a course she created with the help of her six equine fiends, the bonded herd at Chanting Willow. Above all else, Daan knows she has so much yet to larn and will continue to do so from other people and from the horses themselves. The journey is never walked alone.
